O2 Xda Exec Mobile PDA

O2 Xda Exec Mobile PDAO2 has launched O2 Xda Exec - their successor to the highly popular O2 Xda II range. The first device to use Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system, it supports wireless LAN, 3G and GPRS connectivities and also has a laptype-style keyboard.

It also comes with improved battery life a 1280x960 (1.3 MP) camera.

This is ideal for the business user (considering the high price) on the move, facilitating the user with Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDF viewers, not to mention Pocket Outlook for e-mails. Powered with an Intel XScale 520 MHz processor and 64 megs of RAM, you have a powerful little device at your disposal. As usual, it also supports games and Windows Media Player for that occasional song or video that a business user would demand.

It is priced at £399.99. Check the extended entry for technical details.

PELCO 600 SERIES PMCP642 42 INCH HD RESOLUTION

Pelco’s 42-inch plasma displays provide bright images, intense colors, and enhanced details. The slim design of these 600 Series monitors takes up minimal space and allows for easy installation. Plasma technology provides high contrast ratios; a measure of the most brilliant colors and the blackest blacks. It also creates a richness and naturalness, providing exceptional image quality and detail to the viewer. The 600 Series is ideal for environments with lower to normal lighting. Their wide viewing area makes video easy to view from any angle.

Install the 600 Series monitors with multiviewers to view and control up to 60 images on a single display, thereby reducing the need for multiple dedicated CRTs. The large format equals bigger images for multi-image displays. The multiviewers’ output is in high definition to match the HD resolution of these large monitors. Optional flush wall mounts are available for the 42 inch model, and optional tilt wall mounts are available for the 42inch model. Pelco uses pixel-shifting technology that provides protective measures to minimize screen damage as a result of stationary images.

    phones get smarter
Our tests of the latest models with new, better features

Cell phones of all stripes now offer some of the attributes of Apple's iPhone, which dazzled consumers when it arrived last year. New feature-laden models like the HTC Touch, T-Mobile Wing, and Verizon Voyager may not match the iPhone for multimedia prowess, but they do have fairly large, easily readable touch screens and simplified menus. Other smart phones are shrinking in both size and price, including BlackBerry Pearl, Palm Centro, and Pantech Duo (all $100 with a two-year contract).

SMART PHONE T-Mobile Wing with slide-out keyboard.

But not everyone needs a phone with sophisticated capabilities driven by a computer-like operating system. Our tests and Ratings of cell phones (available to subscribers) for this report are still dominated by regular models you typically get for $100 or less with a two-year service commitment.

More keyboards. With text messaging the most common cell-phone activity after voice calls, more conventional phones now sport the familiar QWERTY feature on almost all smart phones.
